Moja Love boss, presenter threatened for exposing drug dealers

Moja Love presenter Xolani Khumalo, who presents the Sizok’thola show which exposes drug cartels and syndicates, is living in fear of being assassinated after receiving death threats from faceless drug dealers.

Sunday World can exclusively reveal that Khumalo and the channel’s CEO Aubrey Tau have been receiving death threats on their cellphones from unknown people who threaten to kill them if they do not can the show.

Khumalo and Tau have since beefed up security and have vowed to defend themselves in the face of danger.

The hair-raising tidbits were revealed by a highly placed source in the channel after stumbling upon confidential information communicated to executives.

The source alleged that the drug dealers, who are possibly working in cahoots with rogue cops, have declared war on Khumalo and Tau, so they could continue with their illicit trade of selling drugs including nyaope, tik and cocaine, among others.

The show is ruffling the feathers and exposing drug dealers and merchants who are mainly foreigners.

“Because of the death threats made on them, their security measures have been heightened, leaving nothing to chance,” said the source.

“Since Sizok’thola came on air, where Xolani is embarking on a crusade to expose drug dealers, the show has created serious ramifications for drug lords. It has caused a huge stir in the drug industry.

“This has caused drug dealers to threaten Xolani and Aubrey, as they had realised that the show is causing problems for them.

“Many people around the country have showered praises on Xolani for a job well done, but this is rubbing drug dealers the wrong way and taking them out of business. It is exposing their criminal network.”

Another source said there are unknown people following Tau and Khumalo, noting that several suspicious vehicles have been driving past Tau’s house in Joburg with occupants surveying his property.

Tau has since installed high-tech security systems in his property and has alerted his local community policing forum and patrolling security company because he does not want to leave anything to chance.

Moja Love channel head Bokani Moyo said the station is aware of the threats made on the lives of their CEO and the presenter.

“We were aware of the risk we were taking when we agreed to broadcast the show. We are obligated to highlight issues that affect society, as drugs and crime are negatively impacting our communities,” said Moyo.

“We are aware that our CEO Mr Aubrey Tau and Sizok’thola presenter Mr Xolani Khumalo have received death threats over the work the show is doing.

“We are doing everything in our power to ensure the safety of our personnel. No amount of intimidation will stop us from doing our job.”

When Moyo was asked if the channel has reported the matter to law-enforcement agencies, she declined to comment due to the sensitivity around the issue.

Khumalo said: “I am not going to be intimidated and stopped from doing my job. It is our responsibility as South Africans to make sure that we root out all criminal elements in our society.

“As Sizok’thola team, we are still going to expose more wrongdoers. We need to rid our country of drugs and crime.”

Tau was not available for comment.
