The likes of captain Bongiwe Msomi, experienced defender Karla Pretorius, Nicola Smith, Elmere van der Berg and star player Khanyisa Chawane are all expected to make Plummer’s best 15.
The selection of Refiloe Nketsa and young sensation Owethu Ngubane – who made her debut against Australia during the quad series in January this year, will likely depend on the fitness of Smith and Van de Berg, who both missed the quad series due to injuries.
South Africa will be hosting 15 nations on African shores for the first time in 60 years since the tournament began.
