The highly anticipated top of the table clash between India and South Africa is finally on our shores as the rampant Proteas embark on a mission to cause an upset and hand the hosts their first defeat in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup when they take to the crease this morning.
Both cricket powerhouses have already booked their place in the semifinals and will be playing for nothing else but pride and bragging rights.
The Proteas confirmed their spot in the semis with two games to spare, after thumping New Zealand by 190 runs midweek – while India did it with ease and authority when they darted through Sri Lanka for just 55 runs all out to seal an emphatic 302-run victory in Mumbai on Thursday.
The likes of hard-hitting star batsmen Rassie van der Dussen and Quinton de Kock will be expected to pick up from where they left off against the Black Caps and score as many runs as possible.
Bowlers Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee, amongst others, have also pulled their weight and have also been lethal with the ball.
For India, the pressure will be leaning more towards them. However, they will leave no stone unturned in protecting their undefeated streak in their own backyard.
