Brazilians’ winger Nku wary of threat posed by Urban Warriors

Mamelodi Sundowns winger Lesiba Nku is wary of a possible threat by DStv Premiership whipping boys Cape Town Spurs.

Sundowns host Spurs at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Wednesday evening, and Nku expects a tricky affair in the top- and bottom-of-the-table clash.

The Brazilians are still unbeaten in the premiership. Last week, they recorded 10 wins out of 10 matches played in DStv Premiership and sit comfortably on top of the log with 30 points and four games in hand.

Spurs, on the other hand, are languishing at the bottom of the table with only three points after 13 matches.

Ahead of the encounter, Nku said they will not take the fixture for granted as they will be going up against a side that is fighting to stay in the top-flight league.

‘We want to win every game’

“It’s not going to be an easy game, they are fighting for their lives. We also want to win the league,” Nku told the club media department.

“We will try to win every game that we play. It’s not going to be easy, but we are going to fight.”

“We take each game as it comes. Each match we play, we want to win it. We don’t check where we are on the log or where they [opponents] are. We just want to win every game.”

Sundowns come from the back of yet another disappointing result in the CAF Champions League after being held to a frustrating goalless draw by Egyptian outfit Pyramids on home turf at the weekend.

The 27-year-old Nku, who joined the Brazilians from Marumo Gallants at the start of the season, added that the game against the Urban Warriors will be a different ball game altogether.

“The CAF was something else. Now we are going to play the league and the preparations have been good, but we know we will play after three days. I think we are recovering well.”
