The day the football world has been waiting for is finally here, as either Spain or England will come out tops and claim the bragging rights of being the kings of Europe when the two powerhouses lock horns in the Euro 2024 final tonight.
The mouth-watering final clash is set to get underway at the Olympic Stadium deep in the capital of Germany in Berlin at 9pm.
In what was a “not so exciting” 17th edition European competition for many, the final of Euro 2024 could, however, still deliver a spectacle that will go down in the history books.
The other moments during the tournament that won’t be forgotten by history. For instance, Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest footballers ever, became the first player to feature in six Euro competitions during Portugal’s Group F opening match against the Czech Republic.
There was also the meteoric rise of teenage sensations Lamine Yamal of Spain and the “Turkish Messi” Arda Guler.
The two teenagers stamped their authority on a big stage and kept the world talking throughout the tournament with their skill and flair. They also scored screamers that will both be goal of the tournament contenders.
Having made history by becoming the youngest player to score in the semifinal at the Euros, 16-yearold Yamal will be eyeing his maiden major international winners medal and become the youngest player to ever win it.
However, standing in his way is a tricky England side that has shown nothing but determination and a never-give-up mentality throughout the tournament.
Despite not playing the most attractive football, they ground results and somehow found a way to win matches.
Coach Gareth Southgate and his charges will be making their second successive final appearance and will be desperate to walk out victorious after the 2020 heartbreak against Italy.
Spain, on the other hand, will be going to the game as favourites as they have been the team to beat. They have won all their matches thus far and will be looking to seal the deal.
