Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of exciting Brazilian prospect Lucas Ribeiro Costa from Belgian Challenger Pro League outfit SK Beveren.
Costa becomes Sundowns’ third signing of the season after defender Lesiba Nku from Marumo Gallants and skilful midfielder Junior Mendieta from Stellenbosch FC.
The 24-year-old striker joins the DStv Premiership reigning champions at a time when Masandawana are on a mission to win the CAF Champions League under coach Rulani Mokwena, who recently committed his future at the club by signing a four-year deal.
Costa is believed to have signed a five-year deal, which will see him partner with goal-scoring machine Peter Shalulile and young sensation Cassius Mailula up front.
“I am really excited to be here, and I cannot wait to dance to the sound of the drum that encapsulates the yellow nation,” Costa told Sundowns media.

The Brazilian international is expected to add more quality in an already star-studded Sundowns side that has been dominating local football for the past decade.
Costa is said to have joined Masandawana for pre-season training camp in Rustenburg, before they fly out to the Netherlands later in July to play a last round of pre-season friendlies against the likes of Eredivisie side NEC Breda.
With the transfer window officially open, there will be more player movements at Chloorkop in the coming days, with the likes of Surprise Ralani and Lesedi Kapinga set to make their way out of the club.
