Newly appointed Marumo Gallants coach Pitso Dladla and CEO Sinky Mnisi have put their heads on the block and promised to secure promotion to the DStv Premiership next season.
This after chairman Abram Sello announced the appointments in Sandton on Thursday ahead of their participation in the Motsepe Foundation Championship this season.
Sello also announced the signing of 15 new players, unveiled the Umbro-sponsored kit, and revealed that the club will use the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein as its home ground.
Speaking at the media briefing, Dladla said he was delighted to be part of Gallants and assured the chairman that he will steer the club back to the elite league.
“For me, all I can say is that it’s a privilege to be associated with a club like Marumo Gallants,” Dladla said.
“I am saying that because of what they achieved as a club in a short space of time. So, one can only be honoured to be associated with such as team.
“I would also like to promise the club that I will work hard and make sure that the team goes back to where it belongs.”
Mnisi delivered an emotional speech and confidently said Gallants’ promotion to the premiership is all but done.
“I don’t just go to a team, to me it’s a calling. I go where my ancestors tell me to go,” he said.
“It is often said that ‘one man’s poison is another man’s meat’, and I’m here today as a chosen one with the sole responsibility of delivering the team back to the premier division.”
Gallants will kick-start their league campaign away to Casric Stars at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Sunday next week.
