Mokwena hails Shalulile on his 100-career goals milestone

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has congratulated talisman Peter Shalulile for scoring 100 career goals and becoming the seventh player in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) era to reach the milestone.

Shalulile banged a century of goals during their 4-1 cruising victory against CR Belouizdad in their Caf Champions League quarter-final first leg last weekend.

Mokwena added that the Namibian striker couldn’t have done it without the help of his teammates.

“On Peter, you will run out of superlatives to address the person that he is,” Mokwena said.

“It is true when they say to be a good footballer you need to be a good human being and Peter is testimony of that.

“But of course, individual awards within a sporting context, especially in football, are only a means of a representation of the support and work given from your teammates.

“And without appreciating the contributions, the assists, the work of his teammates and the people around him, the coaches and everybody associated with the football club, it becomes very impossible to celebrate the 100 goals.

“So, in a moment of congratulating Peter, I would also like to congratulate the team for their contribution towards helping him to reach an incredible milestone.”

Shalulile joins legends Siyabonga Nomvethe, Daniel Mudau and Collins Mbesuma in the 100 goals club, amongst others, and needs 24 goals to become the PSL all-time top goal scorer.
