Radebe says Chiefs missed opportunity to appoint Pitso Mosimane

Kaizer Chiefs missed out on a good opportunity to appoint Pitso Mosimane as the new head coach, that is according to former Leeds United captain Lucas Radebe.

Amakhosi dropped the biggest bombshell of the week, when they announced that Molefi Ntseki will be taking over the hot seat with immediate effect – which will see Arthur Zwane being a joint assistant coach with Dillon Sheppard

The technical team reshuffle has since brought about mixed feelings amongst the Chiefs fanbase, with many thinking Ntseki does not have the pedigree to take Amakhosi back to their glory days.

Radebe, who is also the club legend, also shared the same sentiment, saying that Chiefs should have gone for a coach of Mosimane’s caliber – that can improve and take players to another level.

“He [Pitso Mosimane] is one of our top coaches, so why not [appoint him] when he was still a free agent,” Radebe told Sunday World.

“I mean he has done absolutely brilliant outside the country; we have seen his credentials were absolutely brilliant.

“And why didn’t they give him a chance to come back and see if he can bring that kind of change that we [Chiefs] need in our football, and at the moment, he is a good example to most of our own coaches and represent most of our local coaches that have done well in the game.”

Mosimane has since remained in the Middle East, after signing with United Arab Emirates Pro League side Al Wahda.

Prior to joining Al Wahda, Mosimane was one of the coaches that were linked with the job at Amakhosi, but Jingles, as he is fondly known, dismissed the claims saying that the club never approached him.
