Sekhukhune United midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi is highly confident ahead of the DStv Premiership clash with Kaizer Chiefs at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
Vilakazi recently joined Babina Noko on a free transfer, after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with TS Galaxy when he fell out with coach Sead Ramovic.
Speaking to the media during a media open day at the Johannesburg Stadium this week, Vilakazi said the team has what it takes to get a positive result from the game.
“When you look at the game, it will be a bit tricky, but at the same time we still have a chance at winning the game,” Vilakazi told the media.
“We’ve won back-to-back games, so surely the confidence should be up, surely the fixture on its own on Sunday should be appealing and we should be looking up the ladder and looking to get a fair output out of the game.”
“Chiefs are also on a winning momentum, and you could see how happy they were about the Nedbank Cup draw [against Orlando Pirates in the semifinal], that shows the confidence that they must go all the way and try to win each game that they are going to play.
“So, most likely with us, we should be licking our lips on playing that game and say that we’ve put ourselves in a position to be in the top eight, which wouldn’t be a bad finish overall looking of how we started and had setbacks then find ourselves reclimbing again.”
Sekhukhune are currently occupying position seven on the log standing with 32 points and will be looking to keep up their back-to-back winning momentum.
Meanwhile, Amakhosi are number four with 41 points in their efforts to finish second for a CAF Champions League spot.
Kick-off time is at 3pm.
