More reprieve at the pumps as petrol price goes down

It will be joy at the pumps come Tuesday midnight when the price of fuel goes down for the second consecutive month.

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced on Monday that the price of the 93 ULP and LRP will drop by 89 cents a litre while that of the 95 ULP and LRP will come down by R1.02 cents a litre.

However, the motorists who use diesel (0,05%) will pay 10 cents more while those using the diesel (0.005%) will fork out 15 cents more for a litre.


“The price of illuminating paraffin will come down by 82 cents while the maximum retail price for LPGAS will increase by 19 cents per kilogram,” said the department, adding that the average Brent crude oil decreased from $94 (R1 669) a barrel to $89.79 a barrel during the period under view.
