It will be a case of rags-to-riches, then riches-to-rags, followed by a come-back journey as former Kaizer Chiefs star player Junior Khanye bares all in a reality TV show this July. Khanye will give the public a glimpse into his life in the show as he tries to pick up the pieces of his life.
In the 14-part reality show, Khanye will take fans on an off-the-pitch journey as he faces the biggest “game” of his life which he calls a “second chance at life”.
Fixing the Game is more than just about his time on the field. For Khanye this “game” is all about winning back the heart of his first love. Also fixing the relationship that will benefit his kids, his family, and career.
Tough challenge
After scoring many own goals, this will prove to be a tough challenge as this will come with many conditions.
The former star hit the hard times after losing his fortune due to his lifestyle choices. He was even profiled on Mzansi Magic’s riches-to-rags series titled I Blew It. The show profiles South Africans who had wealth and blew it all through recklessness. His episode trended on various other online platforms and cast the spotlight on his plight.
He was the youngest and most revered football star. Khanye lost it all during his heydays. And he is excited to be getting another chance to fix where he has faltered. He is making a comeback as an author, entrepreneur, owner of a football academy, and also reinventing his career as a football analyst.
Opportunity of a lifetime
Khanye said he is aware that not everyone gets an opportunity and platform like this one. He knows it is God’s way of helping him teach other people about making the right choices in life.
“I am honoured and humbled and through this show, I want to be an example that every change you want in your life starts with you,” he said.
Valuable lessons in the show, not just entertainment
Shirley Adonisi, M-Net channel director for local entertainment channels, said everyone loves a good comeback story. She said Fixing the Game is one that viewers will enjoy and also identify with.
“We bring reality shows like this one not just for entertainment, but hopefully for valuable lessons. And lessons from some of the most admired public personalities and how they navigate this game called life,” said Adonisi.
Fixing the Game: Junior Khanye will premiere on Mzansi Wethu DStv Channel 163 on Thursday July 11 at 18:30pm.
