Journalist Azania Mosaka graduates with honours degree

Broadcaster and journalist Azania Mosaka has graduated with an Honours Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of Witwatersrand.

Mosaka has more than two decades of experience working in both radio and television.

She began her career at Metro FM in 2001, making her mark as the presenter of the station’s afternoon drive show referred to as Route 326.

She later hosted a breakfast show called The Sound of Breakfast, which made her the first woman in South Africa to present a breakfast show of a commercial radio station, and the first to have presented both drive shows.

When she is not doing radio she is podcasting, hosting and moderating conferences and panel discussions. She is also growing her non-government organisation Peo Impact Gardens.

The news of her graduation was shared by the university on Tuesday on its social media pages. She managed to bag her honours degree with distinction.

Another happy face spotted at the ceremony was Sibulele Gcilitshana, who received a post-graduate qualification.

Gcilitshana, who is also a dancer, singer, voice-over artist, and theatre workshop facilitator, graduated with Honours Degree in Psychology.

In the year 2000, she graduated from the Tshwane University of Technology with a National Diploma in Musical Theatre.

The actress has gained experience in corporate theatre, videos, as well as educational theatre. Her television highlights include featured roles on Generations, Your Moves and Snitch, and her lead roles in Soul City and Society.
