Kaya 959 breakfast host Dineo Ranaka and the radio station have officially cut ties.
Sunday World can exclusively reveal that the parties have now gone their separate ways almost a year after Ranaka joined the station from Metro FM.
Sources close to Sunday World say an e-mail was sent to staff members informing them that Ranaka is no longer part of the Kaya family.
Ranaka has been off air for almost two months after suffering from another episode of depression, which resulted in her contemplating suicide.
She approached the station mandarins after her discharge from a mental hospital in Pretoria and proposed a mutual separation agreement.
Ranaka had asked for time off because she was still under the weather and wanted to take a break from the airwaves to focus on her health.
Her imminent departure from the Gauteng-based commercial station has been on the horizon since her social media meltdown.
The station hierarchy first got information from her associates that she would return to her cushy job after a week.
They then asked her colleague, Sizwe Dhlomo, to hold down the fort until she had fully recuperated to take back her morning slot, which she co-hosted with intrepid radio presenter Sol Phenduka.
Ranaka is said to have moved on and is working on a podcast, but little information is known at this point. She has, however, teased her next move on her social media platforms.
- This is a developing story and more information will be shared when Kaya FM comments on the developments
