Missing Jane Furse man found dead at Arabie Dam, two arrested

Police in Limpopo have arrested two suspects, aged 27 and 32, on Sunday, August 23, after the body of a missing man was discovered floating in Arabie Dam in the Elandskraal policing area.

The victim, Jesaya Masha, 42, from Ga-Masha Village, was reported missing at Jane Furse police station on Sunday, August 16, after leaving home in a blue Hyundai.

His family raised the alarm when he failed to return, prompting police to circulate information about his disappearance and the vehicle.

Investigators later received information that the missing man’s vehicle had allegedly been sold to a member of the public.

The car was handed over to police, leading detectives to a 32-year-old suspect in Jane Furse, who was arrested on Friday, August 21.

Further intelligence suggested that Masha had been kidnapped, murdered and his body dumped in Arabie Dam.

A multidisciplinary team, including the SAPS Water Wing and Emergency Medical Services, launched a search operation near the dam’s bridge.

On Saturday, August 22, the victim’s body was recovered in an advanced state of decomposition.

The investigation continued, resulting in the arrest of a 27-year-old suspect in Jane Furse on Sunday, August 23. Both suspects face charges of kidnapping, murder and defeating the ends of justice.

Police have not ruled out further arrests as the investigation progresses.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Sergeant Jacob Pilusa on 082 772 9266, the nearest police station, #CrimeStop on 08600 10111, or via the #MySAPSApp.
