Don’t just dream, get down and do it. This is the approach of two Limpopo women, Makoma Julia Matlala, 31, and Thandeka Simons, 32, who have stepped out into a world formerly dominated by men to form their own construction and project management company. Mabalane A Seven offers construction and project execution, building maintenance and engineering works (civil, mechanical, electrical and engineering supplies) to help bring both new projects and those already in the field to completion. The start-up, which puts job creation and enablement to the fore, proudly boasts the slogan We Empower to be Empowered in their logo design. And now they have formed the MTK Educate a Child nop-profit organisation that motivates for female empowerment. “We are a company with a strong commitment to social responsibility and concentrate on project and construction acquisition so that through capacity building we can create jobs, improve and retain skills, knowledge, tools, equipment and other resources needed to create a lasting footprint for Mabalane 7 on African soil,” says Matlala.
