Limpopo police have cast their nets wide in search of culprits linked to the murder of a 42-year-old man. The man’s corpse was discovered at his home by his employer in Burgersfort in Sekhukhune.
The employer had gone to his home after he failed to make contact with him. Upon arrival, he noticed, through the window, the lifeless body of his employee lying in a pool of blood.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the deceased body was found at his home at Mareseleng village on Sunday at about 12.30pm.
“[The employer] immediately contacted the police.The victim was found with gunshot wounds. The motive for the attack and subsequent killing is unknown at this stage. The police opened a murder case for further investigation,” Ledwaba said.
Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident and made a call for the community to assist the police with information to catch the suspects.

‘Limpopo losing battle on crime’
Meanwhile, earlier on Tuesday, Sunday World reported that a mob killed they accused of stealing a flat-screen TV. The incident happened in Limpopo.
The 40-year-old victim and accomplices allegedly broke into the house of a 48-year-old man at Makurung village, near Lebowakgomo. According to the police, the theft took place in the early hours on Monday while the home owner was fast asleep.
Following the release of quarterly crime statistics in August 2023, the DA in Limpopo said the province was losing the battle on crime.
“The province is currently losing the battle on crime and the first quarter crime statistics paint a bleak picture. The province recorded 197 murders, 1031 sexual offences (including 858 rapes and 104 sexual assaults), 247 attempted murders and 2832 assault GBH cases,” the party’s transport and community safety spokesperson Katlego Suzan Phala said at the time.
