South African music sensation Langa Mavuso is relieved after finding his mother alive.
This comes after she was reportedly hijacked in Mondeor, south of Johannesburg, on Monday afternoon.
The Sunday Blues singer took to social media to share his frustration about his mother’s disappearance and pleaded with the public to help him find her.
“Nine hours, still nothing! If you witnessed a hijacking in the Mondeor area yesterday [Monday] in the afternoon, please DM me,” he wrote at the time.
“My mom and her car were last located in the Power Park area around 7pm last night.”
Vehicle tracking company was unhelpful
He went on to say that a car tracking company had failed his family.
“I cannot even begin to explain my disappointment in their service and their staff’s lack of care. I am angry and frustrated.
“How do I sleep without knowing where my mother is? How do I close my eyes?”
Giving an update on Wednesday morning, he said his mother had been found alive in Naturena.
He wrote: “Thank you, Lord. We’ve just found her in Naturena with no help from the tracker after a sleepless night.
“Thank you for your prayers, raising awareness, assistance, and calls. Grateful.
“God has been kind to us. I would never wish such an experience on anyone. Siyabonga imithandazo [thank you for your prayers].”
Still grieving for his partner
Mavuso is still grieving for his partner, celebrity chef Lentswe Bhengu, who died in February 2023.
The two shared their beautiful love on social media, keeping hopeless romantics hoping for a love like theirs.
He has shared that he met his late lover on a surprise trip to Johannesburg.
The singer said he had to go watch his friend and Bhengu-Mafoko’s younger sister, Swankie Mafoko, perform her debut one-woman show.
“A smile captured me, and little did I know that it would be mine for years to come,” Mavuso said at Lentswe’s memorial service.
