A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the horrific murder of Karabo Magomani Maluleke.
The 21-year-old woman went missing in month of May and her body was found in an open field on Friday. Her burnt remains was identified through DNA tests.
The police managed to arrest the suspect in Giyani, Limpopo.
According to the police, Maluleke’s body wa found burnt beyond recognition in the Krugersdorp area, in the northwest of Johannesburg. Maluleke was a third-year psychology student at the University of the North-West, Potchefstroom campus.
Reports say she was last seen on May 27 at a student residence. She allegedly left school that is located in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria after attending extra classes and walked home. However, she did not arrive there.
Maluleke’s murder follows the brutal killing of a high school pupil, Palesa Malatji who was sexually assaulted and her body found in a veld near another school.
