Suspected Durban paedophile abandons bail, remanded in custody

Durban-based football coach who allegedly duped unsuspecting underage boys with promises of turning them into football professionals before allegedly sodomising them will spend more days languishing in prison.

On Monday, the Ntuzuma magistrate’s court, south of Durban, adjourned the matter to next month to allow the investigation team to conduct more probe into the sex crimes. The 37-year-old male accused cannot be named to protect the identities of his alleged minor victims.

According to Natasha Kara, NPA KwaZulu-Natal spokesperson, more charges may be added when the man appears in court next month.

“The alleged abuses on the minors are alleged to have taken place between November 2022 and May 2023. The matter was rolled over to the 26 of June and the accused remains in custody after he abandoned his bail application,” Kara confirmed.

The alleged perpetrator was apparently an amateur football coach in Ntuzuma township and allegedly tricked the minor boys that he was well known and that he will broker deals with academies of various PSL football outfits. He then allegedly went on sexual escapades with the minor boys without their consent. His pedophilic ways came to an end when one of the boys informed his parents what had transpired, bringing to an end the sodomy that the young boys had endured at the hands of the football coach.
