Zulu king Misuzulu KaZwelithini will tie the knot today with his wife Nomzamo Myeni at KwaKhangela Royal Palace in Nongoma, northern KwaZulu-Natal, while ATM leader in parliament, Vuyo Zungula, walked down the aisle in a traditional wedding ceremony held in his home village of Tsolo, Eastern Cape, yesterday.
Misuzulu’s wedding ceremony today follows the first leg of umkhehlo (a traditional Zulu engagement) at Jozini sports ground, where he attended with a royal delegation that included senior prince, Vanana Zulu, from the KwaMinyamanzi royal house.
Among the dignitaries expected to grace the occasion were Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and his KwaZulu-Natal counterpart Thami Ntuli.
Zungula’s wedding marked a joyous milestone in the life of one of South Africa’s youngest political leaders, known for his calm composure and principled leadership style.
Zungula’s love story with his wife, Zoleka Mathiso, began years ago at the Twelve Apostles Church in Christ, the very church that founded the ATM.
According to those close to them, it was love at first sight. Despite the instant connection, Zungula chose to be respectful and patient in pursuing Zoleka, ensuring their relationship developed naturally over time.
The couple’s bond grew stronger in recent years as they spent more time together. When the time felt right, Zungula didn’t hesitate to propose.
Zungula’s close friend, Buyisile Jentile has described their relationship as a match made in heaven, saying that Zoleka possesses qualities that closely resemble Zungula’s humbleness and kindness.
