Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahli Saudi have climbed back up to the Saudi first division league standings after a narrow 2-1 victory against Al Jabalain on Tuesday night.
Mosimane and his charges resumed their league campaign following the Fifa international break, knowing that a victory would move them up the table after Al Hazem dropped two vital points on Monday when they drew 0-0 against Al Riyadh.
Ahli started the game on a front foot when Hassan Al Ali scored the first goal eight minutes before half-time.
The home side equalised in the 79th, but were, however, stunned when the visitors scored in the dying stages of the game, thanks to a penalty conversion by winger Ryad Boudebouz in the 97th minute, to hand the Royal a crucial victory.
Ahli are now on 55 points, one point ahead second-placed Hazem with eight games to go.
