SuperSport to broadcast World Cup in multiple languages

SuperSport, a South Africa-based group of television channels carried on the DStv and Canal+ satellite platforms, will bring all the fun to football lovers around the world in multiple languages.

The 64 matches of the 2022 Fifa World Cup will be televised live and in prime time with highlights, historical footage, and news updates, SuperSport said this week during the launch of the upcoming Qatar World Cup, which will take place between November 20 and December 18.

In Nigeria, it will be available in English, Pidgin, Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo while in Ethiopia matches will be broadcast in Amharic and English.


Maximo will broadcast in Portuguese and English and in South Africa all the World Cup matches will be available in English, isiZulu, seTswana, seSotho, and Portuguese. The rest of Africa will be broadcast in English, Swahili, Sheng, Twi and Luganda.

Anchoring the live matches will be Julia Stuart, Thomas Mlambo and Mozez Praiz while Dwight Yorke and Carol Tshabalala will broadcast directly from Qatar.

Bongani Khumalo, Stanton Fredericks, Kalusha Bwalya, Phumudzo Manenzhe, Teko Modise, and Amanda Dlamini will be part of the live analysis team.
