Youngster Busi Mashwama, 32, is a force for social good. She is a marketing executive for Bloem Miniacs. The organisation is a division of SA Miniacs, a national charitable organisation. Born in Masibekela village in Mpumalanga, Mashwama is also a deputy director of communications at CoGTA (The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs) in Free State. With more than 300 members, her organisation, which was formed in 2014, donates school uniform, shoes and stationery to learners from disadvantaged families so that they could focus on their education through funding from well-established institutions. “I am a firm believer in education, and I always encourage youngsters to focus on their studies despite their challenges. It is also humbling to help these kids as a matter of giving them hope and support. Through the Bloem Miniacs, we are putting our hands together to help others,” she says.
