Kagiso Kekana, 35, is the founder and artistic director of Charismatic Rhythms Community Arts Hub, a multi-disciplinary creative and social enterprise that advocates for the development of children, youth and emerging artists through arts. The organisation uses art platforms such as music, dance, drama, poetry, visual arts and creative writing to impart valuable art and life skills projects to youngsters in the area. Established in 2015, the organisation currently operates in Makhado, Limpopo, where it is putting its footprint to unearth talent and mould youngsters to become future stars. “Our main objective is to partner with like-minded individuals, institutions and organisations to offer equal opportunities to young emerging artists of marginalised communities to be educated and trained formally in the arts space. “We also contribute towards the creative economic development through job creation and poverty alleviation,” says Kekana. She adds: “Bearing witness of the social transformation and healing in the lives of the young through the various projects and programmes offered, this fulfils my soul and gives me the drive to do more.”
