Born in Bethlehem and raised in Phuthaditjhaba, Free State, Nkopane Mokwena, 29, is the managing director of Mokwena Nkopane Incorporated (MN Inc.), a 100% black-owned law firm he founded in 2019. MN Inc. specialises in corporate and commercial law, labour law, civil litigation, corporate and commercial litigation and property law. Although MN Inc.’s revenue streams have increased, initially Mokoena and his team had to deal with a lack of trust from potential clients. Mokoena, who has an LLB degree from the University of the Free State and other legal qualifications, has worked as a forensic investigator at Greentime Group (now Matutu) and an attorney at Aida Florio Incorporated. His firm has created three permanent positions and intends adding 10 permanent jobs by December 2022. “Currently, South Africa has the worst youth unemployment record and multiple income streams is no longer an option. If you can sell eggs, do it,” Mokoena says.
