Being a director of Startup Grind Bloemfontein, a division of a global non-profit organisation, Refilwe Mogale’s passion to connect, educate and inspire young professionals and start-ups through entrepreneurship excites her. Through Startup Grind, Mogale’s role is to educate, support, and connect entrepreneurs and start-up teams through the best in-person experiences at thousands of local events and conferences via virtual workshops and roundtable events. Mogale, 28, is a builder of bridges to opportunity. “We connect student entrepreneurs with top companies looking to hire them. We also offer mentorship opportunities with leading experts,” says Mogale. “When I launched a business in 2016, I naively expected things to run quite smoothly, but I soon realised that in order for any business to be successful, you need systems and procedures in place that would govern your business to ensure it is sustainable.” She always learns from others who came before her, crediting Nthabeleng Khawe, the founder of Fezi Auditors & Consultants and Opulentia Financial Services, for mentoring her in business. Mogale always learns from others who come before her and she is not above seeking business mentors.
