Selloane Maletsatsi Moleli, 30, from Phuthaditjhaba, Heilbron in Free State, is the founder of Le’Afrinique, a blog she launched in 2010 as a platform to preview the latest African fashion. Back then, the blog took a backseat as Moleli, who calls herself Editor-in-Cool, focused on completing her Bachelor of Arts Communications degree at the University of Johannesburg. She relaunched Le’Afrinique, which means “uniquely African” in 2017, and repositioned it to highlight beautiful Mzansi sounds and visuals – basically art and music and related genres – to the rest of the continent. The blog has interviewed some of the biggest artists in Africa and globally such as Jonah Mutono (USA), Sauti Sol (Kenya), L.A.X (Nigeria) and Karun (Kenya). Le’Afrinique has also been quoted on international platforms such as Okay Africa and Native Mag. “Research, research, research … and read with intention. If you want things to work in your favour, please equip yourself with as much knowledge as possible,” Moleli advises youth.
