Zweli Maxambela, 29, overcame a disadvantaged background to become an internal audit manager at Fezi Auditors and Consultants. He is an inspiration to many youngsters in his community. His job has seen him work in all kinds of environments in the public and private sectors, an experience that keeps broadening his knowledge in financial and accountancy projects. Maxambela has been with the auditing company for six years. He also mentors the youth in his farming hometown of Viljoenskroon in the Free State to make right career choices and encourages them to work hard to realise their dreams. “I come from an impoverished background, so my success as an auditor has inspired many youngsters to follow their dreams,” says Maxambela. “I make sure that I share my knowledge with other youngsters in my community. People should know they are not the sum total of their backgrounds, but are a reflection of the future they see in themselves.”
