Mrs SA pageant getting a bit long in the tooth

In South Africa we have a Miss South Africa pageant that now caters for married women, and a Mrs SA pageant that has always been for married women. Do not ask Shwa how this is possible.

I’m saying this because your girl in gossip dressed up before the coldfront hit Jozi for the acclaimed prestigious Mrs SA top 30 announcement at Emperors Palace, Kempton Park, last Friday.

I hope the Mrs SA organisers know that it is okay to can a show even if it stands for a good cause, especially if it no longer serves a purpose.

But thank you for bringing Whitney Houston back to life with that I Am Every Woman theme song.

The liker of things in me was disappointed the minute I arrived at the venue because the event was a hot mess from the word go.

Have you ever had to stand in high heels until your feet hurt because there are no chairs? That gave Shwa the impression that the event was not properly planned. Shwa wanted to leave, but it would have been rude to stand up from the VIP front row, and walk away?

Your girl hates it when things fall apart in her presence. I mean! How do you invite me and fumble around?

Apparently, there was supposed to be a pre-party, bathong, I didn’t see that, just a clustered line at the bar.

I spotted the reigning Mrs SA Palesa Matjekane. What a beaut!

That woman did not come to play, she arrived in a beautiful blue gown and later changed to beautiful pink sleek gown and brought sexy back, Shwa loves it for you!

Walking the stage with such elegance. This is where Moi thought that it is wonderful to see a beautiful married woman.

I’m not entirely sure of the CEO of Mrs SA Joani Johnson’s look. What inspired the fairy godmother lookalike to wear a suede wrap around with glitter material attached? For a woman who’s about to walk down the aisle soon, Shwa is worried about your wedding dress.

By now you know that Shwa loves seeing good-looking men, and if they are smart too… a win!

I’m talking about the ever-hot Mr World Africa, Dr Fezile Mkhize. He looked and smelled good!

Yes, I hugged him.

Jo-ann, darling! Jo-ann Strauss, for someone who has been a host for some time you only had that one pink dress? No change of outfit nyana? You let me down, girl!

So, the organisers thought it was wise for the contestants to get inside the venue using steep stairs.

That was a setup for failure. Shwa almost jumped off the seat she got a decade late, to catch a whole lot of you who almost kissed the floor! That was hard work for people who are in a beauty competition.

Every business that partnered with Mrs SA created an advert that played during the showcase, and then a voiceover plays: “Welcome back to the Mrs SA semifinalist”, and by the fourth time the crowd was over it.

Based on what Shwa saw, I think it’s time to wrap it up. Just let Miss SA do the things that need to be done.
