Cabinet approves two new Irba appointments

The cabinet approved two new appointments to the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (Irba).

The cabinet said it had appointed Precious Sibiya and Mojalefa Mosala to the Irba board.

From the start of May, Sanlam Corporate promoted Lorraine Mekwa to managing executive.

From the start of May, Sanlam Corporate promoted Lorraine Mekwa to managing executive.

Before her appointment, Mekwa worked for Sanlam as a business development manager from November 2020 to May 2023, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Before joining Sanlam, she worked for Absa, Standard Bank, and Willis Towers Watson.

Mekwa is a charter financial analyst with an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (Gibs). In addition, she has a postgraduate diploma in
management from Gibs.

She also has a bachelor of science in physics and mathematics from the University of the Witwatersrand.

 

Alexander Forbes Investments (AFI) has effective 30 April, Andile Mazwai will, pending regulatory approval, act as interim AFI chair effective 1 May.

 

Alexander Forbes Investments appoints an interim chair


Following the resignation of Daniel Mminele as a director and chair of Alexforbes and Alexander Forbes Investments (AFI) effective April 30, Andile Mazwai has been, pending regulatory approval, appointed to act as interim AFI chair effective May 1.

AFI will appoint a permanent chairperson in due course, Alexforbes said.

In addition, Ndumi Medupe will, pending regulatory approval, serve as an independent non-executive AFI director, and the effective date will be on receipt of regulatory approval.

 

 

Mahube Infrastructure appoints a new chairperson

The Mahube Infrastructure board has announced that it appointed Martin Kuscus as chairperson of the board and the nomination committee from May 5.

In addition, the company also appointed Kuscus as a member of the social and ethics and remuneration committees with effect from May 5.

Sable Exploration and Mining appoints new directors

Sable Exploration and Mining has appointed Nyameka Madikizela and Hazel Bango-Moyo as new non-executive directors.

Nyameka has held senior positions in the property and logistics industries in the public and private sectors. Her most senior positions were chief executive of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa’s (Prasa) corporate real estate solutions and the chief operating officer of JSE-listed Reit Calulo Property Fund.

“She has been active in leading transformation in the property charter as president of the South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners from 2006 to 2008,” Sable said.

Bango-Moyo is a chartered accountant and registered auditor with over 19 years of experience providing audit and advisory services to clients in various industries in South Africa, Australia and the US.

She is the managing director and founder of Primorial, a broad-spectrum accounting services provider for small and medium businesses throughout
Africa.

Deloitte & Touche appointed Bango-Moyo as a partner in 2013, and she held such positions in South Africa and Australia until her resignation in 2017.

“She has solid experience servicing enterprises in financial institutions (including private equity), technology media and telecommunications, manufacturing and not-for-profit industries.

“Hazel is passionate about small business and the development of women executives in the workplace. She makes an impact by supporting largely small businesses to achieve their potential by overcoming the typical challenges that hinder their growth,” Sable said.
