MK Party suspends Nhlamulo Ndhlela’s membership

A day after the MK Party removed Nhlamulo Ndhlela as spokesperson and member of parliament, the party has followed up with  a suspension of his membership.

This was confirmed by the party’s national chairperson, Nkosinathi Nhleko, in a letter addressed to Ndhlela on Tuesday.

“This letter serves to formally inform you that President Jacob Zuma has today taken the decision to suspend your membership of the party with immediate effect, pending the outcome of an investigation,” read the letter.

Ndhlela was replaced by former editor of The Star newspaper Sfiso Mahlangu with immediate effect.

Misconduct

Nhleko said Ndhlela was suspended for what the party said was misconduct on his part.

He stated that pending the outcome of the investigation, Ndhlela was instructed to “refrain from representing MKP in any official capacity, including accessing or operating any official party’s social media and public media, bank accounts or digital platforms”.
Ndhlela was also instructed to return all party’s property, including, but not limited to, documents, devices, membership card, passwords and access credentials to the office of the secretary-general within seven days of the notice of suspension.
Ndhlela was also notified that the letter of suspension was also sent to the party’s chief whip in parliament Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi informing her of the suspension.
