More time in jail for ANC MP accused of killing his wife

The case against Sibusiso Kula, an ANC MP accused of killing his wife, has been adjourned to March 23 for further investigations.

Thirty-four-year-old Kula appeared at the Orkney magistrate’s court on Tuesday to answer to a charge of murder, and was remanded in police custody until his next court appearance.

However, his legal team will be back in court on Thursday next week to appeal his bail application judgment, after it was turned down during his previous appearance.

Kula’s wife was found murdered inside her house on November 27 2022 in what seemed like a robbery gone wrong.

“She was found with a stab wound on her back but the object that was used for her alleged murder has not been recovered,” according to Henry Mamothame, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority.

“The matter was reported by the medical facility where she was allegedly transported by the accused to receive medical attention. He told the police that he was not present at his home when the incident occurred.

“Following thorough investigations by the police, he was linked to the alleged murder and was arrested on January 20 and charged with murder.

“Police investigations are still under way and Kula will remain in police custody until his next court appearance.”
