Ramaphosa appoints seasoned communicator as his new spokesperson

Vincent Magwenya is President Cyril Ramaphosa’s new spokesperson, the Presidency said in a statement on Tuesday.
Magwenya, whose appointment is effective from Wednesday, takes over from Tyrone Seale who acted in the position since July 2020.
A seasoned communicator with extensive experience in government communication, public relations, stakeholder management and broadcasting, Magwenya served as former president Jacob Zuma’s spokesperson from 2009 to 2010.
“He was CEO of PR agency Magna Carta from 2013 to 2016 before establishing Conversations Media and Communications, where he has served as CEO,” said the Presidency.
Magwenya also served as director of communications for Standard Bank Africa and director of group stakeholder relations management for Standard Bank Group.
Magwenya started his career as a broadcast journalist working in various technical and editorial roles. He worked for local and international broadcasters including Reuters Television, Worldwide Television News (now known as Associated Press Television News), the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and the SABC.
Ramaphosa said: “I am pleased to welcome Vincent Magwenya to the Presidency team. His experience, insight and capabilities will strengthen our efforts to effectively communicate the work of the Presidency as we undertake the work of recovery and rebuilding.”
Ramaphosa thanked Seale for having acted in the position, saying his capable manner and dedication to the task is acknowledged and appreciated.
