Kaizer Chiefs will go into their crucial Betway Premiership encounter against Sekhukhune United today without the services of their midfield enforcer Siphesihle Ndlovu who will miss the match due to suspension.
The hard-as-nails holding midfielder has received four yellow cards and according to the PSL rules, he will be out for one match. The well-travelled Ndlovu, who was also on the books of Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, is establishing himself as a vital cog in the Amakhosi midfield.
He has been castigated for his sometimes over the top tackling and vigour to win the ball in Chiefs’ last two league matches against Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midweek.
The match, which will be Amakhosi’s sixth consecutive away game, will be played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane and kick-off is at 3:00pm.
Amakhosi head into the encounter following a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Sundowns on Wednesday, where Flavio da Silva netted another goal for the Glamour Boys. Also, in the previous clash against Pirates, Chiefs have shown improvement and he determination to hold on to third position so that they can qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
However, the match against Sundowns came at a cost, with young star Mduduzi Shabalala, – who provided the assist for Da Silva suffered a serious arm injury after a rough first-half tackle – requiring surgery and being ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Amakhosi are in third place after amassing 48 points from 27 matches, while Sekhukhune are the fifth spot with 42 points from the same number of games.
