Vuyolwethu Sabani, 30, is a community builder and radio personality from Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, who makes a difference in youth development and her community. A public relations graduate from the Walter Sisulu University, Sabani is the lead organiser of TEDxMdantsane, an independently organised TED event happening in the township this year. TED is a global non-profit organisation (NPO) devoted to ideas worth spreading. These are shared by leaders, thinkers and doers around the world to “build meaningful connections”. Sabani is also a founder of Project We, an NPO that helps develop youth “for local and global adequacy” through “meaningful experiences” such as leadership skills. “I believe in sharing ideas to help change attitudes, change lives and ultimately change the world,” says Sabani. Sabani also hosts a show on Radio537, a Mdantsane-based online talk radio station, where she interviews professionals from different fields and looks into societal issues aimed at development.
