Not only is Refilwe Rabotapi, 22, from Jabulani, Soweto, ambitious about conquering the music and television sectors, she is also passionate about opening the doors for others in her chosen career. Through her organisation called Pink Print Media, Rabotapi mentors emerging and well-established artists in the world of music and TV production. Some of her students are orphans. As a CEO, Rabotapi goes to various orphanages and different townships around Gauteng, where she provides career guidance and links youngsters with career experts to help them understand the career paths they would like to follow. Through her work, which is also broadcast on a podcast channel called the Drop, which started in 2019, Rabotapi focuses on providing a useful platform for youngsters. “I draw the inspiration for building an environment where arts and culture spaces get encouraged and celebrated through youngsters in order to empower our communities,” said Rabotapi.
