The signs have always been there that Jonathan Edward Griffiths, 21, of Dundee in northern KwaZulu-Natal was headed for broadcasting. Griffiths is the station manager of Neutral Stereo FM, an online radio station. At age six, he began preaching and teaching the Bible; at 13, he won a public-speaking competition; and at 16, Griffiths made it to Mzansi’s top 10 of young public speakers. Born in 2000, a leading online radio station appointed Griffiths, a matriculant, its afternoon drive show host in 2018. In 2019, he launched Neutral Stereo FM with no funds and today it has 15 staff members, all aged between 18 and 32. The station is a platform for youth to learn the ropes of broadcasting, particularly radio. “Let’s work with what we have to do something constructive to develop and benefit our communities. Let’s not wait for someone to save our day,” Griffiths says. Griffiths is now venturing into property and food business.
