Born in 1990 in Alexandra, Johannesburg, Karabo Letsoela is a multi-talented jazz musician and actress who launched her foundation named Karabo Mo Afrika last year. Letsoela, 30, whose stage name is Karabo L, established the organisation to uplift the lives of young women and children living in informal settlements, townships and other disadvantaged communities. The foundation provides women with short courses and knowledge-building seminars alongside experts in sensitive subjects like the prevention of bullying. As the founder and chairperson of Karabo Mo Afrika, she implements projects and delegates roles for the youth she works with. Letsoela, recently a cast member of the DStv telenovela, Impilo: The Scam, has starred in several plays and performed in countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Maldives. She believes she still has more to offer the world. “Ambition is nothing without knowledge; it’s like a boat on dry land. We must strive to learn as much as we can during our lifetime,” she says.
