Born in 1994 in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, Noluthando Zamancube Khambule, 27, is passionate about the preservation of African culture in her hometown despite holding a demanding corporate job in Joburg. That’s why she has made it a habit to organise cultural gatherings with traditional leaders at KwaMafahlawane, her maternal home, an area around Osizweni township. Her other ambition is to impart knowledge to the youth and she has launched the Sitshala Imbewu, an initiative to teach learners about basic entrepreneurial skills. The organisation will hold an annual school drive and roll out “entrepreneur days” at various schools in her neighbourhood. “The learners will be allowed to sell anything on the day and be taught about the main aspects about assessing the performance of a business,” says Khambule. “Not everyone will support or get your vision. But don’t despair and never forget why you started what you started to begin with.”
